"Don't ever lose faith in who you are, for that's what makes you different.
Don't try to turn yourself into someone everyone else is, for if that happens, the world is a poorer place."

i shall omit the german bit for this blog because my brain is dead tired and unable to muster up any german other than ficken and scheisse. which are vulgarities mind you and which use of is not encouraged under any circumstances.
the lsesu singapore society inter-varsity debates was held yesterday and it was one of the best experiences ever. for one, i had the chance to see the world class (singapore) team from the university of cambridge, made up of natalie morris, yeo shenglong and nicholas tan in full debate action. it was also a good experience seeing joce, leon and chelsea in action, given that joce and leon are really good friends. note : they were impressive, given that non of them has had regular debating action, or in the case of one, no debating experience whatsoever. so if you ever do read this, well done!
i must also express my thanks to audrey and adrian who gave me the confidence to chair a debate as important as the LSE-Cambridge one. i know my record in chairing debates is a pretty poor one and i was keen to try to do things correctly this time round. i hope that i have justified your confidence in me and i really appreciate the chance. it was an honour chairing the debate.
the debate stirred something deep inside me. watching the 3 lawyers-to-be from cambridge debate made me wonder if the way i was approaching life was approriate. till now i have done little to try to do something about this lack of confidence speaking in front of a crowd. as a lawyer i should be able to speak confidently in front of an audience because my client's case depends on it.
i used to debate in jc.. and come to think of it. i miss those days of quick thinking, shooting POIs and being the third speaker in a panel of 4, cutting down opposing arguments down to size and comfortably winning. since then i have given up doing things like that which would allow me to hone my rudimentary skills for lawyering. i cannot rely on typing out all my thoughts during the course of this career i'm probably heading towards. i guess it's time for me to start doing something positive about it.
as what she says.. what am i going to do about my life today?. hahaha
well, at least i have broken my season losing streak in mahjong. feel sorry for fern though, with everyone goading her. well. i actually admire her attitude, knowing that she's not a fully competent mahjong player but still willing to play for friendship. and doesn't grumble when she loses. respect.
a student-life timetable from tomorrow. wish me luck.
