In My Words

"Don't ever lose faith in who you are, for that's what makes you different.
Don't try to turn yourself into someone everyone else is, for if that happens, the world is a poorer place."

I don't take well to recognition or appreciation, and I am very sorry if I appear uninterested or dismissive of anyone's gratitude. Deep down inside, I do appreciate the little things people do for me, and there are many a time I wish to flash a smile and give them a hug. But no, that's not what I can do now. I've become such a detached person that I am not capable of those bursts of appreciation.

The notion of appreciation has lost its value to me. I used to think that I want to be appreciated for everything I do, and for each great deed, everyone must know about it. But appreciation is borne out of expectation, and when one expects bilaterals, disappointment arises. So I thank you for your appreciations, but no, I am not expecting anything in return. Without hope, nor agenda, everything I set out on is fastooned on belief, faith and love. Belief in what flows in my blood, faith in His great plans, and love, for the people who matter to me.

The people who matter to me, has sometimes taken on a more fluid nature than I myself see it. Once in a while, shadows of doubt fall on me, whether that person means so much to me that I can drop everything and be there for him/her. Sometimes I answer in the positive, sometimes in the negative, but one thing is certain, there are times where the person can have a different answer the following day.

I still love my friends dearly, and they will always be a cornerstone of my life. But I can't be everyone's friend, and neither can I hope that everyone will be my friend. The friends who have walked into my life, and those who have subseuquently walked out, have taught me that friends aren't made, they are nurtured, slowly, painistakingly, and lovingly. More oft than naught, the friends who I end up caring for the most, are the friends who walk the longest routes with me, even though others take the bus.

I give my all to the people who matter to me, and thus it hurts me tenfold when these friendships are compromised. But 'tis a fact of life that people come and go, and to those who have stayed there, thank you.

-----------------------

If one day you discover him
Broken down he's lost everything
No cars, no fancy clothes to make him who he's not
The woman at his side is all that he has got
Why do you ask him move heaven and earth
To prove his love has worth?

Would he walk on water
Would he run through fire
Would he stand before you
When it's down to the wire
Would he give his life up
To be all he can
Is that, is that, is that how you measure a man?

If by chance all he had to give you
Was three words wrapped around your finger
Would that be deep enough at the end of every day
And how will you ever know
If a man is what he says?

Why do you ask him to move heaven and earth
To prove his love has worth
Would he walk on water
Would he run through fire
Would he stand before you
When it's down to the wire
Would he give his life up to be all he can
Is that, is that, is that how you measure a man?

He never gives up
Lets go of his dream
His world goes around for his one true belief
Is that how you know
Is that what it means?

Would he walk on water
Would he run through fire
Would he stand before you
Would he will be your anchor when the dark unfolds
Would he always love you the best that he knows?

Would he give his life up
To be all that he can
Is that, is that, is that how you measure a man?

Would he walk on water
Would he run through fire
Would he stand before you
When it's down to the wire
Would he give his life up
To be all he can

Is that, is that, is that, how you measure oh...

Is that, is that, is that, how your measure a man?
